Ground Coupling Rod

Most electrical installations entail the use of ground conductors. And for each type of this conductor, there is a likelihood that you will need a ground rod. The couplers are used for connecting ground rods and ground conductors.

The coupling for the ground rods can either be threaded coupling or compression. The design of the threaded coupling makes it easy to create full contact between one end of the ground rod and the next end.

Compression coupling, on the other hand, makes it easy for the rods to be driven without having to risk any kind of separation. The couplings make strong joints with the ground rods without causing any physical or surface damage.

Ground coupling rods differ in terms of diameter.  Some have larger diameters than others. The diameter that you choose may depend on the specifications of your ground rod. The most common size range for the ground coupling rod includes ½”, 5/8” and ¾”

In addition to the size variation, ground coupling rods are made of different materials. The most common ones include copper and steel. They are coated and galvanized for protection against weather and corrosion.

Our ground coupling rods are designed and manufactured according to international standards. They match the ANSI parameters for the ground coupling rod specifications and have the NEMA GR-1 approval.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the applications of the ground coupling rod?

Coupling rods are commonly used for ground electrical installations. If the conductors are directed to the underground, using a conductor rod, then it will be necessary to install ground coupling rods.

How ground coupling rod works?

The couplings for the ground rod work by creating a specific compression joint. They can achieve this without cracking or even splitting the joints when they are driven through the joints. A strong connection is created and it will take immense force to pull the rods apart.

Types of ground rod couplers

There are different types of ground rod couplers that you can buy. The most common types include;

  • Bronze threaded coupling rod
  • Threadless compression couplers
  • Copper ground coupling rod
  • Steel ground coupling rod
  • Bronze ground coupling rod

How to install ground rod coupling?

The installation process will depend on the type of ground rods that you use. Pointed copper rods are installed with threadless couplers. Also, ground rod coupling is threaded to allow the rod to compress hence forming a strong and compact connection.
