Shackle Insulator

Shackle insulator is also named spool insulator or butterfly insulator, it is usually used on low voltage transmission lines and distribution lines.

Shackle Insulators are designed to insulate and support the secondary conductors, these insulators can be mounted to the pole directly with an upset bolt or to the electrical cross arm, or with the help of D-iron clamps or secondary racks. They can be fixed either in a horizontal or vertical position.

All the insulators are designed, manufactured, and tested according to GB, IEC, AS, BS, ANSI, and other international standards.

Powertelcom can also offer Shackle Insulators with various specifications,  such as different kV of systems, types, colors, sizes, dimensions, and of course different prices, according to customer requirements。

What is shackle insulator?

The shackle insulator is also named spool insulator, it is mainly used with to a secondary clevis support the secondary conductors at the utility pole for low voltage distribution application.

How to use a shackle insulator?

The secondary conductor in the groove of the shackle insulator is fixed with the help of insulator ties. The shackle insulator can be used in a horizontal or vertical position.

Features of shackle insulator

  • High impact resistance
  • Both vertical and horizontal positions
  • For low voltage distribution networks only
  • Easy replacement for porcelain
